Discover the Culture of Southlake, Texas

Here are some of the benefits and culture of living in Southlake Texas:

No Apartment Complexes: Rentals are few in Southlake keeping the value of homes up. 95% of residents are homeowners.

#1 Ranked Public Schools: Carroll ISD has the highest public school test scores in all of Texas. This is because the community puts a high emphasis on education. 74.1% of adults have a bachelor's degree compared to 37.7% of the U.S.

Smaller city for a hometown feel: The population of Southlake is estimated around 31,102 for 2022 according to Census.gov, which makes this feel more like a town than a city. When you live in Southlake you have that hometown feel and will occasionally run into friends or neighbors at the grocery store. You won't feel swamped by a large city. You can get involved in the city council meetings if you like and not feel like a stranger.

Is Southlake Pretentious?: With a median income exceeding $250,000 a year, many clients ask me, "Are Southlake residents pretentious? I've read some things online." My answer is that while outsiders may judge, Southlake residents are a community of hard working professionals, business owners and CEOs. They have worked hard to get where they are at and simply have a different mindset around money that some who have not achieved financial success may judge. Another question I receive is, "Will feel like an outsider if I drive my lamborghini around town (or other choice luxury car). And while you will definitely get looks, it's not uncommon to see high end luxury cars in the city. If you love a luxury lifestyle, you will fit in. And even if you don't care about luxury cars or the luxury lifestyle, you will still fit in.

Convenient Location: Southlake is conveniently centrally located near major highways in the center of the DFW metroplex. This makes it easy to access the amenities and entertainment of Dallas, Fort Worth and Frisco and other neighboring cities in just 30 minutes. Southlake is also just 10-15 minutes from DFW International airport making travel easy. It's so great to get off a plane and only have a 12 minute Uber drive home.

Top-Rated Schools: Southlake is known for its top-rated school district, including Carroll Independent School District. Families in Southlake can benefit from excellent educational opportunities for their children.

Community Events: Southlake often hosts community events and gatherings, fostering a sense of community among residents. These events may include holiday celebrations, social gatherings, and more.

Crime: Crime rates in Southlake are lower than the national and Texas average. I have felt comfortable dropping my teenage daughter off at the town square to hang out and shop with her friends. Southlake shops typically close no later than 9 PM so the night life is not big in Southlake. It gets real quiet after 9 PM. You will have to go to Frisco, Plano or Dallas for a hip night out on the town. Southlake is NOT a party town.

Shopping and Dining: Southlake Town Square, located nearby, offers a wide range of shopping and dining options. Residents can explore boutique shops, dine at fine restaurants, and enjoy entertainment options. Carillon Parc has broken ground and will be only footsteps away for luxury shopping and dining.

Healthcare Facilities: Southlake is home to top-notch healthcare facilities and medical centers, ensuring residents have access to quality healthcare services.

City Upkeep: One of the biggest things I look for in finding the best cities to live in Texas is how well the city maintains the streets, buildings, and neighborhoods. Southlake does a fantastic job with retaining its beauty and value.

Overall, living in the Southlake offers a luxurious and comfortable lifestyle with a strong sense of community. Residents can enjoy a range of amenities, beautiful homes, and a serene environment while being conveniently located near essential services and entertainment options. It's a sought-after city for those seeking a high-quality living experience in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
